Telefoniaca invests on Andean Region's Fiber-Optic Networks

An AFP report last week states the about $1.5 billion will be invested by Telefonica in Peru from this year up to 2013 to place a new fiber-optic network which would improve the internet connections within the Andean region.
This was announced and revealed by Telefonica's president, Cesar Alierta after his meeting to the country's president - Alan Garcia at the presidential palace.
