Senior Communist official visits Peru

With the largest Chinese community in the region, Peru was one of the first South American countries to establish diplomatic ties with China. This was cemented by the visit of a senior Chinese Communist Party member to Lima this week.

US Treasury Secretary to visit

The US Treasury Department announced that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will visit Peru next week as part of an attempt by the Bush administration to repair ties with Latin America.
