A union of stevedores in Lima's port of Callao with about 1,500 members went on a strike last Tuesday to put pressure on stevedore firms for higher wages and early retirement benefits.Port of Callao is the country's largest shipping terminal which handles 30 percent of their exports and 70 percent of imports. The Lima Chamber of Commerce in an e-mailed statement said that this strike may have cost $70 million lost in sales. News: Bloomberg.com: Latin America
