Peru's ancient art treasures are being secretly taken out of the country and ending up in Europe, the United States and other markets, depleting the supply of priceless and irreplaceable artifacts from the countries ancient heritage.

Peru's Garcia orders bombing of cocaine plants

In an effort to wipe out drug trafficking in his country, Peruvian President Alan Garcia, ordered warplanes to bomb and strafe drug manufacturing plants and clandestine airstrips in Peru's Amazon jungle.

Peruvian miners call off strike at U.S. owned smelter

Under Peruvian law, mining firms must share a portion of their profits with the miners, but workers at the Peruvian plant of Missouri's Doe Run Company, were dissatisfied their share and downed their tools. Now a deal has been struck and they are back at work.
