The Route 251 bridge over the Illinois River at Peru will soon be open to the public once the finishing touches of repainting finishes by the third week of October.
According to area supervising engineer for Illinois Department of Transportation, Ottawa, Don Ernat, repainting could have been finished earlier if there had been a dry week.
The Era Valdivia Contractors of Chicago has the contract for the project that costs $2.72 million and originally had a required completion on October 30.
